VC in Brigada Eskwela 2012

It was a glorious day at Maricaban Elementary School last Monday as Ditus Sapientia Holdings Inc. (DSI) geared up for Brigada Eskwela 2012. DSI strives to improve and increase its Corporate Social Responsibility every year – which aims to help the community. As early as a month ago, DSI assembled a group of employees called the CSR Team to spearhead its first project Brigada Eskwela. Seventy seven employees willingly joined and donations from other companies were gathered to make this event possible.

The day started early with a parade of charming majorettes dancing around the school campus. Presentation of volunteers and stake holders was made by Ms. Marilyn Q. Dela who has also been actively helping DSI for years. Ian Angelo King, Managing Director of DSI, together with the government officials Engr. Albert Paredes and Ms. Vic Sangil were invited to join the stage to give warm greetings to the students, parents and other volunteers.  Engr. Paredes promised to help the school by constructing another building and an overpass which everyone is excited for. Ian King gave surprise gifts to the Maricaban students – school supplies specifically, composed of notebooks, pencils, crayons and more. Smiles of happiness and appreciation from the kindergarten students melted the hearts of the viewers. A song number from Roan Isaac Zamudio made the day brighter and energized the volunteers and his last note kicked off the start of Brigada.

Everyone was busy and determined to finish their assigned tasks. Parents armed with brooms were tasked to clean the rusty old classrooms. Students of Manila Tytana College enthusiastically cleaned and repainted the wooden chairs. Managers from DSI collectively scraped the old walls and repainted the gym while other employees divided repairs and clean-up. Breaks and meal periods were given to everyone to have the time to rest and refresh.

DSI (Victoria Court, SoHotel, Best Western La Corona Manila & Hotel La Corona Lipa) has been supporting the Maricaban Elementary School for seven years now. It started from the Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) and now called Brigada Eskwela. Major changes and renovations were done during the passed years. But every year the numbers of enrollees are increasing, with that, the school needs more help than before. May this serve as an inspiration to urge participants to donate construction and cleaning materials or serve as volunteers. Again, we are thanking everyone especially to our donors who helped us. Hoping to see you next year!
